About BioCrossroads and BioCrossroadsLINXBioCrossroadsLINX was established in 2007 as a strategic initiative to understand and implement the best ways to grow Indiana’s drug development strengths through external partnerships -- building relevant university research and workforce development programs. To accomplish this goal, BioCrossroadsLINX will assess Indiana’s assets and gaps in this sector, establish and staff broad collaborations with other biotechnology centers, develop relevant academic and workforce development programs. BioCrossroads is Indiana’s initiative to grow the life sciences, a public-private collaboration that supports the region’s research and corporate strengths while encouraging new business development. BioCrossroads provides money and support to life sciences businesses, launches new life sciences businesses, expands collaboration and partnerships among Indiana's life science institutions, expands science education and markets Indiana's life sciences industry. A true collaboration of Indiana’s academic and workforce development community working together, BioCrossroadsLINX’s partners offer degrees, fields of study and programs to develop the workforce for the biotech and pharmaceutical development sector. Indiana Department of Workforce DevelopmentThe Indiana Department of Workforce Development offers an array of training grants to Indiana businesses to enhance the skills of their incumbent workers. As the State of Indiana’s lead training agency, the Department of Workforce Development will work with BioCrossroadsLINX officials to assess the need for additional training and education requirements as the industry continues to grow in Indiana. Indiana University School of MedicineThe Indiana University School of Medicine, the second largest medical school in the nation, is dedicated to promoting health in the state of Indiana and beyond through innovation and excellence in education, research and patient care. As the state’s only medical school, the IU School of Medicine has more than 1,300 students who are educated at nine centers across Indiana. More than 1,200 faculty advance the School’s mission and promote life sciences in the Hoosier state. Ivy Tech Community CollegeIvy Tech Community College is the nation’s largest statewide community college system and Indiana’s second largest public post-secondary institution with more than 110,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering affordable degree programs and training that are aligned with the needs of its community along with courses and programs that transfer to other colleges and universities in Indiana. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Purdue UniversityPurdue research and degree programs in pharmacy, the life sciences, advanced manufacturing and engineering play critical roles in drug development. Students earn degrees that prepare them for industry and research in fields including industrial engineering, biomedical engineering, veterinary medicine, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, biological sciences, chemical engineering, statistics and pharmaceutical sciences. In addition, the biopharma industry meshes with Purdue research and education efforts such as the Chao Center for Contract and Industrial Manufacturing and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE). |
